Wanderlei Silva has responded to a challenge made by his old rival Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
The feud between Silva and Jackson certainly has its place in MMA history. Back in November 2003, “The Axe Murderer” stopped Jackson via TKO. In their second encounter back in late October 2004, Silva brutally knocked “Rampage” out with knee strikes. Both fights were held under the Pride FC banner.
Fast forward to December 2008, and Silva would once again collide with Jackson, this time under the UFC banner. “Rampage” turned things around in a massive way, knocking Wanderlei out cold in the first round. They ended up having a fourth time, with Bellator serving as the host promotion, and Jackson also emerged victorious in that September 2018 clash via second-round TKO.
Now, “Rampage” wants a boxing match with his heated foe.
Wanderlei Silva Welcomes Quinton “Rampage” Jackson Challenge
Speaking to Brazilian reporter Ana Hissa, Wanderlei Silva said he was happy to hear the news that Quinton “Rampage” Jackson wants to mix it up with him one more time, but now inside the boxing ring. Silva has accepted the challenge (via MMAFighting.com).
“I couldn’t wake up to better news,” Silva said on a video posted by Brazilian journalist Ana Hissa. “My archenemy Quinton Jackson will make his boring debut and already said he has the intention to do the fifth fight with Wanderlei Silva. I think that’s more than fair because I’ve knocked him out twice, and he beat me twice as well. So we’ll have the fifth fight, in boxing.”
Wanderlei vowed to give Jackson flashbacks to their 2004 meeting.
“Get ready Quinton Jackson, your time is coming,” Silva said. “The challenge is more than accepted. Wanderlei will hang you on the ropes again. Get ready.”
