Ulrika Spacek have shared new song ‘No Design’.
The London band will release their first album in five years this month, after life events pushed them to the brink. The strain of working several jobs to support their art pushed the musicians to the point of burn out, before their Homerton base became victim to gentrification.
‘Compact Trauma’ finds Ulrika Spacek pushing back, a daring song cycle that revels in dreamy allure. New song ‘No Design’ is an album highlight, its drifting insouciance backed by some psych-leaning synths and neat, twisting guitar lines.
The band’s Rhys Edwards assisted on piecing the video together an eye-catching mosaic that tells the story of Ulrika Spacek and the community around it. He says…
“Photographed, animated and edited by Ulrika Spacek. Comprised of 1000’s of photo’s taken across the history of band so far. Including friends, loved ones and those found and lost along the way. ‘No Design’ was one of the last songs to be written on the record and is a love letter to chance rather than fate and the hope that everything isn’t doomed to fail”
Catch Ulrika Spacek on tour this Spring, including a London Lafayette show on June 8th.
