The Octagon returns to Nevada for today’s UFC Vegas 87 event, an eleven-bout fight card headlined by Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs. Shamil Gaziev.

UFC Vegas 87, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Shamil Gaziev, Results, UFC

Rozenstruik (13-5 MMA) will enter the bout looking to rebound, this after suffering a submission loss to Jailton Almeida in his most previous effort last May in Charlotte. Prior to that setback, ‘Bigi Boy’ was coming off first-round knockout victory over Chris Daukaus (see that here).

Meanwhile, Shamil Gaziev (12-0 MMA) will enter today’s headliner boasting a perfect professional record in MMA. The highly touted heavyweight prospect made his Octagon debut at December’s UFC 296 event, where he scored a second-round TKO victory over Martin Buday.

UFC Vegas 87 is co-headlined by a light heavyweight bout featuring Tyson Pedro taking on Vitor Petrino.

Tyson Pedro

Pedro (10-4 MMA) will be returning to action for the first time since earning a first-round knockout victory over Anton Turkalj at September’s UFC 293 event. That sensational performance got the Aussie back in the win column, as he had previously suffered a decision loss to Modestas Bukauskas in February of last year.

Meanwhile, Vitor Petrino (10-0 MMA) has gone a perfect 3-0 since making his UFC debut in March of last year. ‘Icao’ most recently competed last November, where he earned a second-round stoppage victory over Modestas Bukauskas.

Also featured on the UFC Vegas 87 main card is the return of bantamweight standout Umar Nurmagomedov who will be squaring off with Bekzat Almakhan.

Nurmagomedov (16-0 MMA) has gone a perfect 4-0 since joining the UFC ranks in January of 2021. In his most previous effort last January, ‘Young Eagle‘ picked up first-round knockout victory over Raoni Barcelos.

Meanwhile, Bekzat Almakhan (14-1 MMA) will enter his Octagon debut sporting an eight-fight win streak, his most recent being a TKO victory over Yan Ferraz under the OKTAGON MMA banner. The 26-year-old suffered his lone career defeat back in 2020, when he was submitted by Sultan Zholdoshbek.
