The debut single is a key moment for any artist. It’s a point of introduction, a space for you to map out what it is you want to achieve from music. Thankfully for Swedish riser waterbaby, she’s smashed it – new single ‘Airforce blue’ is a real jewel, a thrilling and evocative slice of future-facing pop.

A profoundly individual voice, she moves between 00s R&B tropes and PC Music style digital abstraction, somehow finding a way to blend the two. Debut single ‘Airforce blue’ was constructed alongside Marcus White and Anton Fernandez, the dazzling production aligned to that dulcet vocal, so infused with innocence.

An evocative introduction, ‘Airforce blue’ comes equipped with a neat video, showing waterbaby against New Year’s Eve fireworks in Stockholm.

Freshly signed to Sub Pop, we’re expecting a lot more to come from waterbaby.
