Pivotal Memphis rap figure Gangsta Boo has died.

Reports from the United States indicate that Gangsta Boo was found dead at home; news of her passing was confirmed by close friend and associate DJ Paul, who posted a tribute on social media.

Real name Lola Chantrelle Mitchell, Gangsta Boo’s unrelenting creativity forged its own path. A key member of Three 6 Mafia, she took the horrorcore outfit to a new level, while continually pursuing her own aesthetics.

An artist who refused to compromise, Gangsta Boo was also renowned for her kindly spirit, and willingness to platform those around her. Features with clipping. and Run The Jewels illustrate her impact, with a fresh generation latching on to her impactful flows and phenomenal word play.
