Threads on Tuesday announced some important updates coming for its users. More specifically, the platform is rolling out two new features: an option to mute post notifications and also quote controls to limit re-shares. Read on as we go into more detail about these updates.
New features coming to Threads
With this update, you can now mute notifications for a post in Threads. Previously, there was no way to mute a specific post unless you turned off all the app’s notifications. You can now also limit who can quote your posts and even manually unquote a post.
Some users may think that both features have been available for some time – that’s because Threads has been experimenting with both with a small number of users. But according to Instagram head Adam Mosseri, the new features are now available to everyone on Threads.
“The ability to mute notifications on your Threads posts is now available to everyone. Quote controls have also fully rolled out, allowing you to remove unwanted reshares of your posts (you can always limit who can quote you when you post),” said Mosseri in a post. Both features were highly requested by users.
In addition to these features, Threads recently began testing a new interface for its web version that is very similar to TweetDeck. It includes multiple customizable columns and real-time post updates. However, there’s no word on when the new interface will be available to everyone.
You can download the Threads app for free on the App Store. Make sure you have the latest version of the app installed to get access to the new features.
