Lucy Letby, a 33-year-old nurse, has been found guilty of the murder of seven babies and attempting to kill a further six, in a ruling that makes her the worst child serial killer in modern British history.

She was convicted of the ‘persistent, calculated and cold-blooded’ murder of premature infants on the unit where she worked at the Countess of Chester hospital in north-west England. The allegations against Letby relate to a period between 2015 and 2016, during which she was working as a nurse on the hospital’s neonatal unit.
