Complex World is our docuseries that goes beyond the headlines with real issues and real news. This week, we bring you the story of Zack Stoner, an independent citizen journalist, who was shot and killed in downtown Chicago in May of 2018. Stoner gained local fame for his gritty videos that chronicled a life in Chicago that was rarely captured by news cameras. Naming himself the “hood CNN”, Zack interviewed up and coming rappers such as Chief Keef, Famous Dex, and Lil Durk on his YouTube page ZackTV1. We speak to Zack’s family, the Committee to Protect Journalists and Ntare Mwine, who plays Ronnie on the Showtime series The Chi about Zack’s legacy and impact as a documentarian of Chicago’s Southside and why his death remains unsolved.
