Tex Moonlight salutes a formative heroine with new song ‘Amy Winehouse’.

The songwriter’s work blends rollicking barroom soul with aspects of electronic production, steering the old into a space which is emphatically new. His run of excellent singles continues with this latest release, a tip of the cap to a huge influence on his work.

‘Amy Winehouse’ is a salute to the seminal British artist, someone who totally reconfigured the lexicon of pop. Similarly, she blended the old with the new, and both artists share a love for vintage songwriting.

There’s a rockabilly skip to the rhythm, while the vocal takes its inspiration from the words of Janis Winehouse, Amy’s mother. Tex comments…

“The track is a song about a mother’s undying love for her child, and the tragedy that fame can leave in its wake. It’s also a testament to the inspiration provided by a generational talent.”

Tune in now.
