Teezo Touchdown is the sixth face of CLASH 128.
Teezo Touchdown is a force of nature. A fashion maven, he starred in a global campaign for HUGO, and has been co-signed by Tyler, The Creator, Kendrick Lamar and Travis Scott, whilst embodying the restlessly experimental spirit of pantheon artists like Prince and David Bowie.
Last September, the Texan disproved the style over substance claims with his debut album ‘How Do You Sleep at Night?’, an ambitious, far-reaching record connecting hip-hop with a confluence of genres he branded “Rock and Boom”. Dedicated to preserving the sanctity of the album in an instant-grat era, Teezo’s finessing an amorphous persona that brings his intrepid performance skills to life on stage.
In this revealing cover feature, the crafty chameleon takes a moment to reflect on his rise whilst mapping out a vision for the future. He’s harnessing the power and aspirational reach of the Greats, but walking his own idiosyncratic path.
As he tells CLASH: “We see the common denominators of what it takes to get to greatness. I’m doing that as well, but I’m also figuring out what makes me different than that…”
Elsewhere in this issue you can absorb the truth of Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes, confront the wisdom of underground heroine Kim Gordon, enter Matt Champion‘s new Arcadia, and become re-acquainted with indie-pop prodigy Towa Bird and West London rap renegade AJ Tracey. Explore the realm of future RnB auteur Saya Gray, and gain an audience with enigmatic UK rapper Jawnino. Jodie Harsh reflects on shifts in London’s queer nightlife over two decades, DIIV and Been Stellar dig deep into New York’s DIY underworld, and Hollywood actor and musician Rome Flynn reveals all.
