Taylor Swift To Release ‘folklore: the long pond studio session’

Taylor Swift is set to release ‘folklore: the long pond studio session’ on limited vinyl for Record Store Day.

The annual celebration of independent record stores returns on April 22nd, and Taylor Swift has decided to get involved. She has previously voiced approval of the project, describing record shops as “sacred” places to “explore and discover music new and old”.

‘folkore: the long pond studio sessions’ will be released this year, “the first and only release” of the album on limited vinyl. Expanding on her critically lauded ‘folklore’ full length, it also features Aaron Dessner (The National), Jack Antonoff (Bleachers) and Justin Vernon (Bon Iver).

Alongside ‘folklore’ Taylor constructed a Disney+ special, the long pong studio sessions – an album was subsequently given a digital release:

The album will be available as a double LP on grey vinyl and in a bespoke gatefold jacket.

On its release, Clash gave ‘folklore’ 9/10 with writer Valerie Morgan commenting:

But ‘folklore’, Taylor’s grandiose musical start to the roaring ‘20s (which have started, by all other accounts, terribly) has done much to make the impact of a tumultuous new decade a little softer. A serene, wintery album released smack in the middle of summer, folklore is ‘Red’ but gentler, reputation but more insightful, ‘Speak Now’ but more lyrically complex.
