Swift took 14 spots following the release of The Tortured Poets Department
Until late 2022, no artist had ever taken up the entire top 10 on the Hot 100. Now Taylor Swift has done it twice.
Just a day removed from The Tortured Poets Department making history as the second-biggest album debut since Billboard first started tracking streaming numbers for its chart rankings, Swift has broken her own Hot 100 record she previously set with Midnights, taking up every one of the top 14 slots on the chart this week, Billboard announced on Monday.
“Fortnight,” Swift’s collaboration with Post Malone, took the top slot with over 76 million million streams and 19,000 traditional sales, per Billboard. Rounding out the rest of the top 10 are “Down Bad,” “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” “The Tortured Poets Department,” “So Long, London,” “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys,” “But Daddy I Love Him,” ““Florida!!!,” “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?,” and “Guilty as Sin?”. “Fresh Out The Slammer,” “loml,” “The Alchemy” and “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” rounded out spots 11 through 14.
Swift became the first artist to ever claim the top 10 following the release of Midnights in November 2022. Drake is the only other artist to have come close to that record, having previously taken nine of the Top 10 when he debuted Certified Lover Boy in 2021. Prior to then, the Beatles were the only act to have completely taken over the Top 5 at the same time. Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) took seven of the Top 10 spots on the Hot 100 last year.
The Tortured Poets Department made chart history yesterday, opening with over 2.6 million units sold, the second-biggest debut behind only Adele’s 25, which had over 3 million album equivalent units in 2015. Swift’s stratospheric chart numbers can be attributed both to sky-high streamed and unmatched traditional sales. The album had the biggest streaming week of all time, and it broke the record a week ago for biggest opening day in Spotify history.

While its streaming numbers were huge at over 891 million streams last week, a sizable bulk of the The Tortured Poets Department‘s numbers came from 1.91 million sales, buoyed by nearly 20 different physical options.
With Swift’s major week secured, the question now becomes how long she will reign at the top on both charts before she gets dethroned.
