Taylor Swift has commented on the row engulfing Ticketmaster’s handling of her upcoming North American tour.

Perhaps someone should have seen it coming. The last time Taylor Swift went on tour was pre-pandemic, and since then her fans have feasted on glorious chapters in her career. With new album ‘Midnights’ shattering charts records while claiming the No. 1 spot on both sides of the Atlantic, tickets for her upcoming Eras tour went on sale.

Ticketmaster handled the sale, and overwhelming demand created huge issues for fans. With a massive number of people attempting to access the service, thousands upon thousands were left disappointed, venting their anger online.

Citing overwhelming demand, Ticketmaster halted the second day’s sale, sharing a statement that read: “Due to extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet that demand, tomorrow’s public on-sale for Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour has been cancelled.”

Now Taylor Swift has shared a statement on the row. Admitting that she is “extremely protective of my fans” she said it is “excruciating for me to just watch mistakes happen with no recourse”.

Contrasting her in-house method of working – and accountability – the statement seems to admit that right now, there’s little Taylor can do. Citing “a multitude of reasons” behind fans’ disappointment, she says “it really pisses me off” that fans feel “like they went through several bear attacks” to get tickets.

Finishing, Taylor Swift promises “more opportunities for us all to get together and sing these songs”.
