Silverhours has shared his new album ‘Madeleine Moment’ in full.
The album has its rooted in an unusual feat, with Silverhours using lockdown to focus on his craft. Nick Cave hosted an online covers competition, and – with nothing to lose – this maverick artist decided to enter his take on ‘Spinning Song’.
Remarkably, he won, with Nick Cave calling his rendition “strange, bold and emotional elevation of the original”.
Emboldened, Silverhours returned to his own material, drawing other musicians into his web. Clive Deamer and Alex Thomas contribute drums, while Olugbenga Adelekan and Timothy Lefebvre are on the bass. Joe Zeitlin and Clare O’Connel handle strings, with the final mix overseen by Shuta Shinoda.
Taken as a whole, Silverhours new album ‘Madeleine Moment’ remains tethered to the intimacy of his lo-fi recordings, while grappling with fresh opportunities. In a note, the artist says the process gave him “endless possibilities to tweak the knobs of my pedals and synths and get me that lo-fi vibe I wanted to go for originally”.
Tune in now.
