self-portrait is doing things a little differently for the spring season, launching a brand new collection alongside k-pop icon Jisoo.

Stepping into the music space for the first time, the London-based fashion house takes a trip to Seoul, shooting the Blackpink artist in her usual surroundings: the recording studio.  Captured through Joon JiYong’s lens, Jisoo cherry-picks her outfits from self-portrait’s new range, sporting voluptuous mini dresses in taffeta, casual denim pieces and a soft knit set. Transforming between day-to-nightwear, the collection seeks to empower women through its classic silhouettes, enhancing its focus on two-piece designs and tailoring. From guipure lace to satin, crochet, chiffon, bouclé and beyond, the brand embraces a vast range of textures and styles, offering a more versatile approach to its garments.

Previously spotlighting the likes of Emily Ratajkowski, Gigi Hadid, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss, self-portrait welcomes a new era for Jisoo as she develops her solo career alongside her recently announced agency, BLISSOO. In turn, the campaign feels all the more ambitious, launching the brand’s first series of installations and pop-ups which will travel between London and Seoul. The first of which will see the brand re-imagine the shoot’s original studio setting, unveiling pieces from the latest collection whereas the latter will present the brand’s latest work in a blown-up format across Beizik Studio. Both will offer passers-by the opportunity to take their own self-portrait, reflecting on identity and manifestations for the months ahead.

Founded in 2013 by Malaysia-born founder and creative director Han Chong, self-portrait places emphasis on the next generation of creatives. Previously working alongside Central Saint Martins to offer a five-year scholarship program to up-and-coming designers, the brand continues to highlight the importance of nurturing new talent from all walks of life. Speaking on the latest collection, Chong shares: “What I have come to discover through working with Jisoo is that she is a real chameleon and loves to experiment with her wardrobe. We decided to shoot her in a recording studio – a place where she feels at home and comes to life – to capture her at her most authentic self. Her selection of off-duty denim and relaxed twinset knits to fun partywear and evening gowns shows the full spectrum of her own personal style and felt like a diary of a pop star.”
