S Club 7’s Paul Cattermole has died.

News of his passing was confirmed by S Club 7 a few moments ago. In a statement, they write: “We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul. There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have.”

The group add: “He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time.”

The performer was due to re-unite with the pop legends for a full UK tour later this year. Demand for initial tickets was off the scale, with fans eager to catch the group’s original line-up together for the first time since 2015.

After leaving the group, Paul Cattermole indulged his passion for rock and metal in the project Skua. Latterly, he was drawn into the orbit of S Club offshoots, such as S Club 3 – Paul Cattermole, Jo O’Meara, and Bradley McIntosh.

Paul Cattermole and S Club’s Hannah Spearritt were romantically involved before even joining the group. Initially, their romance was kept a secret, before going public. They split in 2006, but resumed their relationship for a spell in 2015.

Dogged by financial difficulties, Paul Cattermole was declared bankrupt in 2014, and sold his BRIT Award trophy on eBay in 2018.

Paul Cattermole was only 46 years old; no cause of death has been given.
