Trump is reshaping the Republican National Committee to the point that its leadership were not only on his payroll, but peddled lies about the 2020 election being stolen.

Among the new hires is Christina Bobb, an attorney who represented Trump in the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case and former on-air reporter for the far-right outlet One America News Network.

Bobb has been made the RNC‘s senior counsel of election integrity and is the author of the 2023 book Stealing Your Vote: The Inside Story of the 2020 Election and What It Means for 2024, which claims to document how the 2020 presidential election was stolen. The book includes an introduction by former Trump adviser Steve Bannon.

“I look forward to working to secure our elections and restore confidence in the process,” Bobb said in a statement about her new role, The Washington Post reported.

Bobb also tweeted on Jan. 6, 2021, that former Vice President Mike Pence “can solve this now by sending it back to the legislators,” referring to the false claim pushed by Jan. 6 rioters that Pence had the power to overturn the results of the 2020 election before they were certified by Congress.

Over 60 staffers have been fired from the RNC in the past week across multiple divisions, according to CBS News, with Trump campaign adviser Chris LaCivita being among the folks working to reshape the RNC.

The shifts follow the change of guard at the RNC last week. Former RNC chair Ronna McDaniel was succeeded by North Carolina GOP head Michael Whatley, who is also a 2020 election denier, and Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump was selected as co-chair. Trump endorsed both picks last month as his campaign pressured McDaniel to step down.

“In a world where qualifications are often measured by titles and years of experience, we are reminded of a powerful truth: God does not call the qualified; he qualifies the called. Lara Trump is the embodiment of this truth,” RNC member Beth Bloch said of Lara’s ascension last week.
