Ratboys have shared new single ‘It’s Alive!’ – tune in now.
The band have spent more than a decade together, producing four excellent studio albums. Working with Topshelf Records, Ratboys’ catalogue expands by one this summer, with the release of a brand new LP.
Out on August 25th, ‘The Window’ is a neat 10-tracker, written on a completely collaborative basis. Stepping outside Chicago, Ratboys travelled to Seattle to work with producer Chris Walla across three weeks of recording sessions.
New single ‘It’s Alive!’ is punchy and assured, bursting out of the traps with that excellent Julia Steiner, pivoting between poetic flourish and the simple glee of the chorus.
A track laden with light, ‘It’s Alive!’ seeks to capture what Steiner calls “the overarching feeling of the world spinning on beneath you while you’re stuck in one place.”
John TerEick directs the video, which features the band playing in an empty house until, bit by bit, the new owners claim it as their own.
