The street lights did not function in the previous governments, said residents of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir. They were just for show. And the PDD did not function. The people used to put bulbs but these never worked. It was most problematic during Ramzan. Then the Youth President of the Municipal Council took initiative.
Now the street lights are functioning and beautification work is going on in our district Pulwama. This month in Ramzan we did not face that difficulty. All the lights were functioning well.
Earlier, during election times they used to get electricians to get the lights working. But they did not work properly even after supervision and only a few big lights used to be lit. Now, the street lights are all working, giving relief to passers by.
During winters, after snowfall, clearance of roads was not happening. This year, all the roads were cleared after snowfall. We commuters did not face any difficulty. We are seeing all these changes now in Pulwama with the Municipal Council getting into action.
The government has done a great job during these auspicious days, said people doing Ramzan. I think there was a political gap and we lacked political representation and a leader. That is why Pulwama got ignored for 30 years.
Today, because of the Municipal Council, a lot of work has been completed, a lot of work is going on and a lot of work is in the tendering process which will be undertaken in the coming years.
We had a big initiative for a shopping complex and a marriage hall in Pulwama and that will be completed in the coming years.
