Tonight’s UFC Vegas 85 event was headlined by a middleweight bout between Roman Dolidze and Nassourdine Imavov.
Dolidze (12-3 MMA) had entered tonight’s main event looking to rebound, this after suffering a controversial decision loss to Marvin Vettori in his most previous effort ten months ago. Prior to that setback, ‘The Caucasian’ had put together a four-fight winning streak, which included knockout victories over Kyle Daukaus, Phil Hawes and Jack Hermansson.
Meanwhile, Nassourdine Imavov (13-4 MMA) had most previously competed at June’s UFC 289 event in Vancouver, where his fight with Chris Curtis ended a no-contest after an accidental clash of heads rendered ‘The Action Man’ unable to continue. Prior to that, the Frenchman was coming off a unanimous decision loss to former middleweight champion Sean Strickland.
Tonight’s UFC Vegas 85 main event proved to be a hard-fought 25-minute affair. Nassourdine Imavov was able to utilize his speed and quickness to get the better of Roman Dolidze in the standup for the majority of the five-round contest. Although the Georgian fighter was able to find some success in the clinch, it was not nearly enough to earn him the victory on Saturday night. Instead, it was Imavov who walked away with a pretty clear-cut decision victory.
