Prince Harry, Britney Spears Memoirs Lead Apple’s Top Books of 2023 List

Apple Books has announced its “Top Books of 2023″ ranking and two celebrity memoirs (and a celebrity biography) land on the site’s Top Five list.

Spare by Prince Harry and The Woman In Me by Britney Spears were named the Top Nonfiction Books of 2023, based on sales on Apple Books. The Elon Musk biography by Walter Isaacson also made the list. All three books, meantime, also made Apple’s list of Top Nonfiction Audiobooks. Prince Harry famously read his own memoir on audiobook, while actress Michelle Williams narrated Spears’ tome.

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros was named the Top Fiction Book of 2023, followed by another Yarros book, Iron Flame. Apple says Fourth Wing was, “a must-read for fans of romance and fantasy during the spring and summer.”

Ann Napolitano’s Hello Beautiful, an Oprah’s Book Club pick, also made the Top Fiction Books list, along with Happy Place by Emily Henry and The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese, another Oprah pick. Only the Dead by Jack Carr topped Apple’s Top Fiction Audiobook list for 2023. The Navy SEAL thriller is read by actor Ray Porter, best known for playing the DC Comics villain Darkseid in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

In addition to revealing their top-selling books of the year, Apple Books also unveiled its new “Year in Review” feature, an in-app experience that helps readers “celebrate the titles, authors, and genres that defined their year.” In addition to seeing a list of the books they read in 2023, users can also view personalized details, like their total time spent reading, the longest book or audiobook they read, any book series they completed, their most-read genre, and their highest-rated book.
