Recorded at Manchester’s Band On The Wall…

PIXIES are one of the pivotal names in modern American music, a band who practically set the blueprint for 30 years of guitar music either side of the Atlantic.
Remarkably, they’re still pushing ahead, still moving forwards. New album ‘Doggerel’ is perhaps the best of their reformed work, with PIXIES tapping into that quietLOUDquiet crunch while longing for the alien feel of their earlier work.
Touching down in the UK, PIXIES played a tiny – by their standards – show in Manchester, hitting lauded independent venue Band On The Wall. Clash made it along, and met the band backstage, too.
As if that wasn’t enough, PIXIES also recorded a few live sessions on the day, setting up their equipment and kicking out the jams across some fresh material.
‘The Lord Has Come Back Today’ is a superb piece of alt-rock, Black Francis driving the band forwards amid those intricate lyrical inflections – which include a Neil Young reference, too.
We’re able to share the clip first, and it’s a raw ‘n’ ragged insight into the band’s most intimate UK show in decades.
Tune in now.
