PFL’s Donn Davis is ready to make a big splash in free agency, and that could involve Conor McGregor.

PFL's Donn Davis, Conor McGregor

‘The Notorious’ is currently hoping to return to the cage this summer, against Michael Chandler. In recent weeks, Conor McGregor has opened up on a lot about his MMA future. The former UFC champion has even revealed that he only has two more fights with the Dana White-led company on his deal.

Now, Conor McGregor isn’t exactly itching to leave the UFC. Still, the ex-champion has stated that he’s not sure what will happen moving forward. In the unlikely event that McGregor becomes a free agent, he will have a lot of options. That would include the PFL.

PFL founder Donn Davis recently discussed the subject of the Irishman’s free agency, on The MMA Hour alongside Ariel Helwani. There, he made the pitch not specifically to Conor McGregor, but to other stars of his caliber, including Jon Jones. Davis stated that they’re ready to make big fights and hold massive events moving forward.

While Donn Davis is a believer in the current PFL roster, he’s also aware of the star power that someone of McGregor’s stature would bring. With that in mind, they’re more than willing to speak to the Irishman if he becomes a free agent. Especially considering the capital that they now have, thanks to partners such as Saudi Arabia.

PFL founder Donn Davis discusses Conor McGregor’s free agency

“Well, not addressing Conor per se, just addressing any fighter. You know, whether it’s Jon Jones, Conor McGregor, anybody.” Donn Davis responded on The MMA Hour earlier this week when asked about the Irishman’s potential free agency. “The market understands that we now have the capital to do anything, anything. The market understands that our desire to think differently is unlimited and the market understands that our partners want to stage the biggest fights in the world, beyond anything that’s been done.” (h/t MMA News)

He continued, “So, we don’t need anything that we don’t have to make the biggest fights happen, with the biggest fighters, on the biggest stage. So, anybody that is interested, whenever they’re available, we’re ready. We’re the most creative, and the most aggressive, and we’re the most interested. So, that applies across the board [not just to McGregor].”

For what it’s worth, the PFL has acquired some big stars in the last two years. Since the start of 2023, they’ve signed names such as Jake Paul, and Francis Ngannou. Both men are expected to debut in the company this fall, as ‘The Predator’ has been linked to a fight with Renan Ferreira. Paul’s debut opponent is currently unknown.

What do you make of these comments from Donn Davis? Could you ever imagine Conor McGregor in the PFL?
