Disney+ has released a trailer for its Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, and it offers up a deeper look into its title character’s world.

The clip expands on an earlier teaser as it follows the demigod Percy (Walker Scobell) from his school to Camp Half-Blood and on the quest to retrieve Zeus’ (the late Lance Reddick, seen briefly in the trailer) master lightning bolt alongside his friends Grover (Aryan Simhadri) and Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries).

The trailer also showcases Percy’s voiceover narration and several of the series’ adult guest stars, including Megan Mullally (Mrs. Dodds/Alecto), Glynn Turman (Chiron/Mr. Brunner), Toby Stephens (Poseidon) and Virginia Kull (Sally Jackson). The cast also includes Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jason Mantzoukas, Jay Duplass, Adam Copeland, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Olivea Morton, Suzanne Cryer, Timm Sharp and Timothy Omundson.

The series is based on author Rick Riordan‘s quintet of best-selling novels, with the eight-episode first season covering the events of The Lightning Thief. Riordan and co-showrunner Jon Steinberg wrote the first two episodes and executive produce with co-showrunner Dan Shotz, director James Bobin, Rebecca Riordan, The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell and D.J. Goldberg, Bert Salke, Jim Rowe, Monica Owusu-Breen, Anders Engström and Jet Wilkinson.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians premieres Dec. 20 with two episodes. Watch the trailer below.
