Palehound will release new album ‘Eye On The Bat’ on July 14th.
The new album is the songwriter’s first release since the collaborative LP ‘Doomin’ Sun’ in 2021, and the first under their own name since ‘Black Friday’ in 2019.
Out on July 14th via Polyvinyl Record Co., the album taps into their roots, presenting Palehound at their most dynamic and visceral. New track ‘The Clutch’ was the first song to be penned for the album, and it feels like a howl of frustration against a world determined to remove personal control.
Informed by the opening weeks of the pandemic and a self-described triggering romantic experience, it’s backed by one of Palehound’s most resolute vocals. Choppy indie rock with a poetic aspect, as ever Palehound writes completely from the heart.
Produced by El Kempner (Palehound) and Sam Owens, the 00s referencing video was co-directed by Brittany Reeber. El comments…
‘The Clutch’ is the very first song I wrote for this album, back in 2020 right when lockdown started. I had been on a tour that was sliced in half by the onset of the pandemic and we had to apocalypse road trip back to New York across the country from Oregon, where our next show had been scheduled for.
While that was happening, I was also having a triggering romantic experience with somebody I didn’t know too well, and by the time I got home my whole body seemed to be spinning in turmoil. Writing and producing this song grounded me and helped me process a new future and self that I hadn’t anticipated.
Tune in now.
