Online Teach-in on “History of the People’s Struggle for Democracy in Thailand” with Giles Ji Ungpakorn.

This session was organised by Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) in solidarity with the ongoing pro-democracy movement in Thailand.

About the speaker:
Giles Ji Ungpakorn is a Thai political exile. He is a former associate professor in the Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University. Giles fled to the UK in 2009 after facing a lèse majesté charge in Thailand. Giles is the author of the book “A Coup for the Rich” (2007) and “Red Siam Manifesto” (2009)( https://bit.ly/31uM0oG). He is also writer for the blog https://uglytruththailand.wordpress.com/.

The first 44 minutes of this video is presentation of Giles on the topic of struggle for democracy in Thailand, followed by Q & A session. This teach-in session covered a wide range of issues, from Thai monarchy and the military, nature of the class society in Thailand, challenges of the movement etc.
