With Richie Seivwright of KOKOROKO on vocals…

London saxophonist Nubya Garcia returns with new single ‘Set It Free’.
The composer’s 2020 album ‘Source’ gained a Mercury nomination, spawning a lengthy series of international shows. New album ‘Odyssey’ pushes her music to different levels, with opening singles such as ‘Clarity’ and ‘The Seer’ displaying her vision.
‘Set It Free’ is a composite of different influences – the beat leans on Golden Age hip-hop vibes, with a slight nod to the slumped funk of J Dilla; the vocal from Richie Seivwright of KOKOROKO has a neo-soul influence, while the nexus of jazz notes that construct the backing yearn for freedom.
A song that aims to present unvarnished truth, Richie sings: “I’m sorry I’m not sorry, truth is what I speak…”
Nubya Garcia will play an intimate show at the ICA in London on September 19th – tickets are sold out.
