An avant folk hymnal with shades of Vashti Bunyan…

Nighttime returns with new song ‘When The Wind Is Blowing’.

The track appears on incoming album ‘Keeper Is The Heart’, which is slated to be released via Ba Da Bing on January 20th.

There’s a suitably midwinter feel to this new song, its avant folk elements recalling the more spectral aspects of Vashti Bunyan’s work, or even Anne Briggs. Spartan in tone, Nighttime – Eva Louise Goodman – uses this framework to tap into her subconscious, allowing her feelings to spill out on record.

Painted in a beautiful monochrome, the songwriting on ‘When The Wind Is Blowing’ searches for a riveting sense of freedom.  “I’ve always been fascinated with ‘automatic’ arts,” she reflected recently, “where things are created intuitively and without premeditation, from the subconscious.”

Tune in now.
