A tender performance from the London-based riser…

Ney Liqa knew that a chance of environment could be good for the soul.

Relocating from her native Stockholm to London, she sought out the city’s labyrinthine club culture. Absorbing electronic production in all its guises, Ney let this intermingle with her own, devoutly soulful sense of songwriting.

Drawn into the orbit of the fantastic Future Bubblers programme, Ney Liqa nods towards late 90s trip-hop and UKG, while also applying her own sense of opaque pop.

In this neat live session recorded as part of the Brownswood Basement strand, she performs her gorgeous song ‘To You’. A stripped back performance, it leans on her caramel-soft vocal, an almost jazz-like virtuosity underpinning the melody.

Driving home this tale of longing, it’s clear that Ney Liqa’s music comes straight from the heart. Tune in now.
