New Wonka Trailer Shows A Young Willie Facing Off Against Chocolate Cartel
Check out the newest trailer for the Willie Wonka movie starring Timothee Chalamet.
Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for its upcoming Wonka movie starring Timothee Chalamet, and it’s magical. This is a prequel that explains how Willie Wonka becomes the beloved chocolatier, and he will have to overcome a number of obstacles.
Wonka is facing off against a chocolate cartel of sorts who threaten to kick him out of town for selling chocolate in general, and also making chocolate affordable. One of the villains mentions how they cannot fathom the idea of “poor” people enjoying chocolate. The movie is directed by Paddington’s Paul King and is produced by Harry Potter veteran David Heyman.
In addition to Chalamet in the starring role, the movie features Keegan-Michael Key, Rowan Atkinson, Matt Lucas, Olivia Colman, and Jim Carter. Hugh Grant plays an Oompa Loompa.
King wrote the screenplay alongside Simon Farnaby. The movie is, of course, set in the world created by author Roald Dahl. This is just the latest adaptation of Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, following 1972’s Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory starring Gene Wilder and 2005’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory featuring Johnny Depp.
Wonka releases in theaters at international theaters on December 6 before coming to North America on December 15.
