Independent imprint EMPIRE have shared new compilation ‘Where We Come From, Vol. 1’.

It’s no secret that music from the African continent is making serious moves right now. A series of artists from across the continent have shattered the glass ceiling, with plenty of newcomers racing into the spaces opened up.

Based in the US, UK and Nigeria, the EMPIRE stable have done more than most to achieve this progress. Now the label has offered up a superb new compilation, featuring some of the best artists from around the continent.

In all, there are 19 artists on display from six different countries, moving from afrobeats to R&B via alte and beyond. Superbly varied, ‘Where We Come From, Vol. 1’ is a show of strength that features fresh icons – Wande Coal, for example, or Fireboy DML – alongside new risers, guided only by an urge to display vital talent.

According to EMPIRE’s Regional Head West Africa, Kareem Mobalaji, “This project is a perfect example of music having no limitations. Yes we are from Africa, but we are truly determined to reach the entire world with our voice which is music.”

Whether you’re a fan or a newcomer, there’s so much to discover here – tune in now.
