The latest feature from David Fincher, a big-budget drama series from Steven Knight and Shawn Levy, and an Oscar hopeful starring Annette Bening and Jodie Foster are among the standout new additions hitting Netflix in November.
With The Killer, Fincher reteams with Seven writer Andrew Kevin Walker to adapt the graphic novel written by Alexis Nolent. The film, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival this year and debuts on Netflix on Nov. 10, stars Michael Fassbender as a shadowy unnamed assassin and features a cast that includes Arliss Howard, Charles Parnell, Gabriel Polanco, Kerry O’Malley, Emiliano Pernía, Sala Baker, Sophie Charlotte and Tilda Swinton.
The Hollywood Reporter‘s review of The Killer described the film as “a satisfyingly retro, location-hopping genre exercise with fisticuffs, gadgets (albeit ones bought from Amazon) and smooth-talking antagonists that all plays like a tongue-in-cheek spoof of James Bond movies.”
All the Light We Cannot See (Nov .2) is a series adaptation of Anthony Doerr’s Pulitzer-winning World War II novel of the same name. Created and written by prolific British scribe Steven Knight (See, Peaky Blinders, Taboo, Great Expectations) the series is directed by the equally busy Shawn Levy (Stranger Things, Deadpool 3, The Adam Project). The four-part drama tells the story of a blind French girl and a German teen forced to join the Nazis and how their paths cross. Aria Mia Loberti, Mark Ruffalo, Hugh Laurie, Louis Hofmann and Lars Eidinger star in the series.
Also debuting this month on Netflix is Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin’s Nyad (Nov. 3). The film, which premiered to strong reviews at Telluride Film Festival, is a dramatic retelling of Diana Nyad’s history-making swim from Cuba to Florida at age 64. Starring Bening, Foster and Rhys Ifans the film is notable for being the first narrative feature from the Oscar-winning directors behind Free Solo.
Other Netflix original films to look out for are George C. Wolfe’s rousing biopic Rustin (Nov. 17), which stars an electric Colman Domingo as the underappreciated civil rights hero Bayard Rustin; and Matthew Heineman’s doc American Symphony (Nov. 27), which follows musician Jon Batiste and his life partner, Suleika Jaouad, through a year of professional highs and personal lows.
Movies that have been added to Netflix in November include 13 Going on 30, The Addams Family, The Big Lebowski, The Change-Up, Desperado, Downsizing, Drag Me to Hell, Madea’s Family Reunion, The Mummy (2017), Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, Pitch Perfect, The Scorpion King, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Sixteen Candles, The Social Network, Ted 2 and Whiplash.
