Naomi Kimpenu has the world at her feet. A songwriter with an emphatic emotional touch, she recently picked up an Ivor Novello award, before focusing on her new EP.

Out now, ‘Prelude (Live At Abbey Road Studios)’ is a beautiful four track affair, one that shows her understated touch. Recorded at the historic London studio, it offers little more than voice and piano, but seems to suggest entire worlds.

Taking the reins herself, Naomi records, produces, and mixes her own music, advocating for women to claim equal ownership of these often male dominated spaces.

Naomi says: “The making of this EP was such a transformative experience. Writing, producing and recording the project really showed me what I’m capable of. It has been such a tremendous year for me as an artist. It’s been filled with so many iconic moments.

“From winning the Ivor Novello Rising Star Award to recording my EP Live at Abbey Road Studios. It feels like the beginning of my legacy. It’s such an exciting time in my life. I’m signing my first ever publishing deal with Sony Music and it is such an incredible and surreal feeling having one of my lifelong dreams come true.”

We’ve nabbed this gorgeous performance clip of Naomi Kimpenu performing her song ‘Only’; poised and pensive, it shows her effortless control, and the sheer dynamic range of her work.

A simple but hugely impressive clip, it finds Naomi Kimpenu claiming this historic space as her own – tune in now.
