The starter motor of a Honda CB 750 RC42 did not turn sometimes. When hitting the start button the relais clicked but the starter did nothing. Hitting it with a hammer sometimes helped but not always. So we took the starter motor out and before buying a new one I wanted to find out if its possible to repair. My thought was that the brushs were worn out and usually you can easily replace these parts. To dismantle it we take the 2 long screws out and pull the 3 main parts apart. On one sind we find a gearbox and on the other side sits the plate with 2 brushes. After 70.000 Kilometers on the bike and MANY starts the starter is really dirty inside. We clean the gear parts and the electric side and mount a new brush plate.
