Mariposa Announces New EP ‘Inframundo’

Mariposa will release her new EP ‘Inframundo’ on August 30th.

The Colombian-Italian artist teases the EP experience with new single ‘Myers’, a glacial RnB number beamed in from the future. It follows ‘Schizo‘ released earlier this year, and is produced by fellow Amsterdam musician Lamsi.

Mariposa invokes her gritty resilience as a marginalized artist on the autobiographical track, which is laced with lines about her history and experience as an artist moving from the fringes of the industry to the mainstage.

Of the inspiration behind the single, Mariposa says: “‘Myers’ is a downtempo Latin rap song that explores the struggle of facing negativity and the determination to overcome it. The song is about refusing to let negativity dictate one’s journey and serves as a defiant reply to those who try to stand in the way with their pessimism. It emphasises a lack of empathy for detractors and highlights a fierce commitment to achieving one’s goals while undergoing a personal healing process.“

Mariposa is fast becoming an in-demand Latin pop export. Tapping into her Italian and Colombian heritage, Mariposa channels artists like Pastor Lopez, Rodolfo Aicardi, Cardi B and Isaiah Rashad in her music. Recently, she delivered an electrifying set at Dour Festival, sharing the stage with the likes of Arca and Ice Spice.
