Madison Steinbruck is opening up on latest single ‘Bad News’.
Tearing into the deeply personal, the track details a relationship reaching its dead-end and the process of overcoming. The singer-songwriter incorporates elements of folk and stripped-back acoustics to spotlight the chilling purity of her vocals, drawing influence from the likes of Phoebe Bridgers and Adrienne Lanker. It’s an honest piece of lyricism, ruminating over the conflicting emotions that strike across a break-up.
‘Bad News’ is the third single off of debut LP, ‘Australia’s Lonelier’, a project that sees Steinbruck through her travels and taking up piano lessons. Originally from Corpus Christi, Texas, the artist spent her formative years writing songs, now recording her upcoming body of work in East Nashville’s Bomb Shelter.
Navigating between solitude, love and despair, Steinbruck finds solace in her pen, channelling a sense of self that is both introspective yet universally accessible.
When asked about the track’s sentimental backdrop, she comments:
“This song is about the moment you realize you can still love someone while recognizing you can no longer be with them.”
Tune in now.
