Irish songwriter Luz returns with new single ‘i shouldn’t be here’.

The rising talent made her name during lockdown, recording music in private and sharing it with the world. Uncovering a deeply felt sense of connection, the intimacy of those recordings struck a chord with newfound fans.

A viral piano take on Dua Lipa’s ‘Don’t Start Now’ swept across TikTok, approved by Dua herself. Tapped up by Noah Kahan, the pair recorded a mesmerising version of his single ‘Passenger’.

Recently selling out her debut shows, Luz has now confirmed a trio of 2024 dates, including a show at London’s Lafayette on March 21st.

New single ‘i shouldn’t be here’ is utterly beautiful, the work of an artist who seems to feel each and every note. A song about mental health, informed by some of darkest moments, the single finds Luz yearning to see the light.

She comments…

“This track was written during a time where I was experiencing really bad depression. I thought that the people close to me would be better off if I wasn’t in their lives anymore because of everything I put them through. For two years, I suffered with these thoughts constantly.

As the song progresses, the lyrics and mood starts to shift as I begin to work on my mental health. I started therapy and accepted help from the people who love and care about me. This song is really special to me and I hope that anyone who listens to it and relates to it can also feel hope that it will be okay in the end.”

Tune in now.
