Luz Opens Up On ‘i shouldn’t be here’

Irish songwriter Luz returns with new single ‘i shouldn’t be here’.

The rising talent made her name during lockdown, recording music in private and sharing it with the world. Uncovering a deeply felt sense of connection, the intimacy of those recordings struck a chord with newfound fans.

A viral piano take on Dua Lipa’s ‘Don’t Start Now’ swept across TikTok, approved by Dua herself. Tapped up by Noah Kahan, the pair recorded a mesmerising version of his single ‘Passenger’.

Recently selling out her debut shows, Luz has now confirmed a trio of 2024 dates, including a show at London’s Lafayette on March 21st.

New single ‘i shouldn’t be here’ is utterly beautiful, the work of an artist who seems to feel each and every note. A song about mental health, informed by some of darkest moments, the single finds Luz yearning to see the light.

She comments…

 “This track was written during a time where I was experiencing really bad depression. I thought that the people close to me would be better off if I wasn’t in their lives anymore because of everything I put them through. For two years, I suffered with these thoughts constantly.”

“As the song progresses, the lyrics and mood starts to shift as I begin to work on my mental health. I started therapy and accepted help from the people who love and care about me. This song is really special to me and I hope that anyone who listens to it and relates to it can also feel hope that it will be okay in the end.”
