“It’s about taking life into your own hands; allowing little thoughts and desires to bloom into real and tangible action.”

Korean-Canadian artist Luna Li has unveiled her new album, ‘When A Thought Grows Wings’, via In Real Life/AWAL.

Coming two years after Li’s last full-length ‘Duality‘, ‘When A Thought Grows Wings’ captures the multi-instrumentalist in a state of flux. Co-created with Monsune (SZA, Drake) and Andrew Lappin (L’Rain), Li documents and explores personal upheavals in her life of late: she recently split with her partner of eight years and left her hometown of Toronto for LA. These charged experiences are offset with excursions into baroque-pop, folk and lounge rock – Li’s signature harp weaving its way through the sunlit sonic panacea.

Of the album’s inspiration, Li says: “‘When a Thought Grows Wings’ is about taking life into your own hands; allowing little thoughts and desires to bloom into real and tangible action. I was going through a period of big transitions in my life at the time of making this album, and in the process, I ended up connecting more deeply than ever with music, as well as with the incredible community of people around me.”

In celebration of the record’s release today, Luna Li also reveals the music video for album track ‘That’s Life’. Directed by Lebni T. Avitia, the video was shot outside of Toronto in the Ontario forests where Li first fell in love with nature, a core part of ‘When A Thought Grows Wings’.
