MK riser Lil Macks has shared his addictive new single ‘Barbados’.

The British-Somali rapper only began to focus on his craft around two years ago, but his the ground running with a series of viral anthems. New single ‘Barbados’ was actually created at the start of his run, but he kept it back, unsure whether to release it or not.

Kicked off more as an exercise, it became an impeccable pop song, with a killer hook and bars for days. Putting the question to his fans, the answer was emphatic: release ‘Barbados’, and do it now.

An ode to the island, it’s a long way from the Milton Keynes streets where he grew up, and that lends the song an engaging atmosphere of escapism – with Autumn drawing in, we could certainly use a stint in the Caribbean.

Produced by Ant Chamberlain, it’s already causing a ruckus online. Discussing the origins of ‘Barbados’, Lil Macks comments…

It was a session I had writers block, so we were skimming through loads of beats online and stumbled across this one… it really resonated with me and felt mad natural. I teased it on my instagram shortly after and the fans went crazy.”

Tune in now.
