The dancefloor is a communion for Joy Anonymous.
In the spirit of spreading “joy” for Christmas is nigh, the lowkey London collective put their own indelibly euphoric touch on a Beach Boys classic. ‘JOY (God Only Knows)’ became a fan favourite on tour with Fred Again, who in turn played the refix at a slew of after parties; a jolt of dopamine, ‘Only God Knows’ is given a feel-good soulful house makeover.
The duo raced to get the track out in time for Christmas after insatiable fan demand. Of the track Joy Anonymous say: “It came about when we heard the original playing in a bar in LA, in the cab ride home after we started to make the track – chopping the sample up and adding our joy drums. A couple of weeks later we started road testing it in our live shows and after parties and the reaction meant we had to get it out ASAP. Feels like the perfect joy anthem to end another ridiculous year.”
