It’s imbued with real intimacy…

Scottish alt-pop force Joesef has shared his new song ‘Borderline’.
The songwriter’s debut album lands on January 13th, and the final previews are coming into place. It’s been a hectic period for the artist, who spent a week in December supporting Scottish superstar Paolo Nutini on his home turf – shows at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow saw them play to 14,000 people a night.
With his debut LP incoming, Joesef has decided to share his new single ‘Borderline’. One of his most moving vocals yet, the song aims for intimacy, hauling down the barriers between the Glasgow voice and his audience.
A tender confessional, ‘Borderline’ was seemingly the final song written for his debut album. Joesef picks up the story…
“It’s a very literal conversational song, and the production is all so close. I wanted it to feel like you are in the room there with us. Sometimes when a song is written with this pace, with a sort of gentleness to it, there is this tendency to want to speed it up or make it bigger.”
“We tried a few things but nothing felt as true to the story as the version you can hear on the album. I still find it quite difficult to listen to. It’s about knowing you’ll never be able to be the version of yourself that someone who otherwise would have been perfect, deserves a right person, wrong time kind of song.”
Tune in now.
