Jarreau Vandal Links With Gayance On ‘No More’

Jarreau Vandal and Gayance combine on new single ‘No More’.

The Dutch producer and DJ is on a hunt for global sounds, exploring different facets of the diasporic experience. Continually creative, Jarreau Vandal has been purposefully seeking out Caribbean and South American sounds, blending them with his finessed club approach.

Out now on Hear This Records, ‘No More’ blends lush house aspects with some neat melodic tones – which recall steel drums – before giving way to some chugging, percussive aspects. Montreal creative Gayance supplies guest vocals, fresh from a recent project on the ever-essential Rhythm Section, and she lends a touch of her Haitian heritage to the track.

An all-out bouncer, ‘No More’ goes off – multi-coloured, supremely dextrous dance music that displays the global unity of sound system culture.

Jarreau Vandal comments…

“I actually made the link between the French Caribbean and Surinamese music way before I started this project when my friend that plays percussion on the record showed me songs like ‘Ti Milo’ by Eugene Mona from Martinique and ‘Petwo’ by Haitian percussionist Jeff Pierre.” 

He adds: “I was shocked by how similar the percussion patterns were and it showed me how hard the people taken from Africa brought to these different places in the Caribbean fought to maintain their culture and music.”
