The Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon is coming this June, Warner Bros. Discovery boss J.B. Perrette confirmed during a Morgan Stanley briefing this week.

This is not a surprise. After all, HBO’s Casey Bloys previously said the show should arrive in “early summer.” June certainly matches up with that.

Filming on Season 2 continued through the Hollywood strikes because the scripts were finished prior to shooting and the actors were part of different guilds that were not striking. You can check out the first trailer above.

House of the Dragon premiered in August 2022 and was a big success for HBO. The company has said Season 2 will be “extraordinary” and that it will have a more traditional storytelling setup. It’s also been confirmed that Season 2 will have eight episodes compared to 10 for Season 1.

In addition to House of the Dragon, HBO is moving forward with another spin-off, The Hedge Knight, which begins filming soon and is expected to premiere in 2025.

HBO is also exploring a Jon Snow series that brings back Kit Harington. Another show, Nine Voyages, has shifted from live-action to animation. Another show, chronicling Aegon’s conquest, is in the works from the writer of The Batman.
