A powerful new single from the South London artist…

Heartworms has signed to Speedy Wunderground.

The South London has long cited the label as a formative influence on her work, and the link up is a long-standing ambition of hers. Part of a wave of talent in the Southern half of the city, Heartworms dips into the darker aspects of post-punk, while absorbing different sonic traits.

A flurry of London dates are upcoming, with Heartworms ready to showcase fresh material. New single ‘Consistent Dedication’ leads the way, with its oppressive sound reminiscent of those early albums by The Cure, or even PJ Harvey’s ‘Dry’.

The clinical beat has a clipped, DIY element that recalls Kraftwerk’s imperial run, while her vocal – packed with yearning, feeling, and loss – has a literary quality, with Heartworms citing the work of Ezra Pound and Simon Armitage as an influence.

Intriguing stuff, the new single follows much-tipped sets at The Great Escape in Brighton earlier this year.

Tune in now.
