The alt-pop maverick has that viral flair, with glaive’s music quickly achieving International impact. Clash linked up with glaive last year, in a conversation guided by Brockhampton lynchpin Kevin Abstract.

Work on new material continues, and glaive will release his new album ‘i care so much i dont care at all’ later this year. Stripped from the record, new single ‘as if’ is out now, and it’s a blockbuster piece of future-facing pop music.

Adrian Villagomez directs the video, while the track itself opens with a sample of actor Timothée Chalamet performing a monologue from the off-Broadway play Prodigal Son.

“We made ‘as if’ in December when we thought the album was already done. For a long time, I had been making music about relationships, but I hadn’t been in a relationship in a year and a half at that point, so I was forced to look more inward…” 

“This was one of the first songs where I guess I ended up talking about myself and the world from my perspective, rather than other people’s. It’s scary to be honest about who I am and for a long time, I was scared to show anyone the song. But now it’s out and the first single from the album <3.”
