With the Writers Guild strike coming to an end at 12:01 am PT Wednesday, Drew Carey’s now legendary largesse during the stoppage will also be coming to an end.

In between offering his congratulations to the WGA West members on the conclusion of the stoppage, Carey tweeted on Tuesday night that striking writers had only a few more hours to take advantage of his offer to cover meals at two Los Angeles restaurants — Bob’s Big Boy in Burbank and industry institution Swingers on Beverly Blvd.

“Yoooo @WGAWest members!! 💔 Congrats! ❤️,” Carey tweeted before adding, “If the strike is officially over tomorrow you’ll have til midnight to have one last meal at Bob’s Big Boy or Swingers! GO CELEBRATE! Love you all!”

Carey has been covering the cost of meals, tip included, for card-carrying WGA members at the two restaurants since May 20, promising to honor the pledge until the strike ended. Media reports suggested that Carey’s bill was averaging over $10,000 a week at Swingers alone.

The comedian displayed similar generosity during the 2007-2008 WGA work stoppage when he also bought lunch for striking writers.
