The NFL to TV news pipeline continues to be strong.

On Sunday, Fox announced that Curt Menefee, the network’s longtime host of Fox NFL Sunday, would add co-anchor duties on Good Day New York, the weekday morning show on WNYW channel 5, Fox’s New York station.

Menefee will join longtime co-anchor Rosanna Scotto on the program, which airs from 7 to 10 a.m. Fox says that during the NFL season, Menefee will only host Tuesday through Friday to accommodate his NFL studio show commitment. He starts Jan. 16.

Menefee originally worked as a sports reporter and anchor at a number of local TV stations, including WNYW, before becoming a sideline reporter for Fox Sports in 1997.

He announced his new role on the NFL pregame show Sunday.

“I’m beyond thrilled to be returning to Fox 5 as a member of the Good Day New York family, while also continuing my weekly hang with my brothers on Fox NFL Sunday,” said Menefee in a statement. “And how cool is it that I get to share this homecoming with the legendary Rosanna Scotto? Way back in the day, my Fox journey began in that same New York studio, sitting beside Rosanna on the 10 O’Clock News. This full circle moment is a dream come true. There’s no place like New York. No place. I can’t wait to get back to the energy of the city, the culture, the restaurants, the people, everything that makes it the greatest city in the world.”

Menefee joins a growing list of NFL broadcasters who have added more traditional TV news gigs to their CVs. Indeed, on Sunday’s show, Menefee shared a desk with Michael Strahan, who also serves as co-host of ABC’s Good Morning America. At CBS, another NFL player turned broadcaster Nate Burleson is a co-anchor, while fellow NFL on CBS veteran James Brown serves as a special correspondent and occasional anchor for CBS News.
