Etta Marcus Eases Back With ‘Mechanical Bull’

Songwriting force Etta Marcus returns with new single ‘Mechanical Bull’.

The pop riser’s wonderful EP ‘Heart-Shaped Bruise’ landed back in January, a work of personal revelation. Letting her feelings hang out there, Etta Marcus exposed her innermost fears to the light, and emerged all the stronger.

Since then, she’s played a smattering of very special live shows, before entering the studio once more to focus one another emotional vignette.

Out now, ‘Mechanical Bull’ was constructed alongside close collaborator Josh Scarbrow, while the production – and final mix – was overseen by Rodhaidh McDonald (The xx, Beck).

A rejection of monotony, ‘Mechanical Bull’ embraces outside voices, with Etta Marcus learning to embrace her innermost desires. A song about reaching for freedom, it ends with a note of quiet confidence from the 22-year-old.
