East London artist Emmeline continues her metamorphosis on new single, ‘Night Rider’, out now via Lewis Recordings.
Produced by Alfie Aukett (PinkPanthress, Destroy Lonely), ‘Night Rider’ continues Emmeline’s sonic expansion following the turbo-charged ‘LGIK‘, combining her signature spoken-word which drips venom over murky trip hop-infused production.
Hardened, weary but evolved, Emmeline says this about ‘Night Rider’: “This song was made with my good friend and producer Alfie, over a day in the studio together. I was watching a lot of movies at the time and wanted to create an epic kind of theme-song for myself, simultaneously superhero like and also villain-esque. The track has roots in hip-hop music that I grew up listening to and loving, but with a strong feminine slant, resulting in an empowering anthemic and still bouncy song.”
‘Night Rider’ follows Emmeline’s debut EPs, ‘Satellite Navigation System’ and ‘Small-Town Girls and Soft Summer Nights’ (2023), both produced by Fraser T Smith. The West Yorkshire native supported The Streets on tour last year.
