Here a complex wheel for motor sport testing is manufactured on one of the 5 Axis CNC milling machines at the Axis Precision Engineering workshop in Essex.

The 1st operation required turning on one of our CNC Lathes to produce the basic profile. Then 5 axis milling is employed to machine all the bespoke details – such as machining the pockets to produce the spokes.

Using a mix of ball nose and lollipop cutters utilising complex tube milling cycles, the profiles between the spokes are machined. The pockets undercut the spokes and this detail has to precisely blend with the previously turned profiles. Then it’s sent for quality control inspection.

Axis Precision Engineering Limited have a wealth of knowledge and experience in the manufacture of precision components since 1985.

This experience coupled with our strict process control to ISO 9001 standard means efficient process planning and machining and stringent quality control. First Article Inspection Reports are available if the project requires.

All the usual ISO 9001 requirements such as full traceability of critical components are covered, as you would expect.

With such high standards during manufacture, you can be assured that your finished components will NEVER require reworking, they will always be fit for function, every time.
